About Josh Mahoney
Founder & Owner | Black Dog Custom Designs | Construction Management Expert | Carpenter
A hands-on builder at heart, Josh grew up in the Adirondacks, learning the craft of modern log home construction alongside his father. This early exposure to the trades instilled a deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship and project management. Driven by a passion for building, he pursued a degree in Construction Management, setting the foundation for a career dedicated to creating lasting structures.
For the next decade, Josh honed his expertise in Boston, working as a Construction Manager and Owner’s Representative. Specializing in multifamily developments, he oversaw both new builds and renovations, ensuring each project was completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
In 2021, Josh founded Black Dog Custom Designs, initially a woodworking business, and quickly expanded it into a full-service general contracting company. Under his leadership, Black Dog Custom Designs has grown into a trusted name in construction, known for its meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence in both residential and commercial projects.
When he's not working, Josh enjoys spending time outdoors, and with his family and black dog Finch. He remains deeply committed to his craft, with a focus on delivering unique, well-crafted spaces that stand the test of time.
